TIPS FOR MOVING WITH KIDS

Moving is hard enough with just one or two people involved… add kids, and it gets a lot more complicated.

So I have put together some tried-and-true tips to make the process smoother for the whole family!

DON’T make it a surprise.

Have open and age-appropriate conversations about the move. Address all of their questions and concerns, emphasizing the positive aspects of the new home.

Let your kids see their new home and take a trip to explore the new neighbourhood. Discover parks, schools, and fun spots to help get them excited about the change.

Allow them to participate in the move. Have them help pack their belongings and decorate their new room.

Have a plan for moving day.

Moving day can be hectic and stressful. Consider arranging for a family member, friend, or babysitter to look after the kids for the day. This will allow you to focus on the logistics of the move without worrying about their safety and well-being.

Unpack kids’ rooms first so they’ll have a place to play while you set up the rest of the house.

 Set aside their favorite things.

Pack a “kids essentials” box with their favorite toys, games, and any comfort items. It’ll keep them entertained and offer a sense of familiarity in the new space.
