SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BUYING NEW CONSTRUCTION?
SHOULD YOU CONSIDER BUYING NEW CONSTRUCTION?
With shows like Fixer Upper and Flip or Flop, it’s easy to romanticize buying a home and renovating it to your liking. However, the reality is you work 40+ hours a week, don’t have a background in construction, and get nauseous at the thought of trying to get multiple bids for a full kitchen reno.
Move-in ready homes have been selling for top dollar, oftentimes with multiple offers (because, like you, most people don’t want to take on a renovation). So if you’ve been searching for the perfect place to call home, and haven’t found it — or have been outbid — it may be time to consider new construction!
For most people, building a home is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and can be really exciting! It can also be intimidating, especially if you’re not adequately prepared or don’t have the right team by your side.
If you’re considering building your dream home, here are some questions you should ask yourself before getting started.
-How soon would you like to move into a new home?
If you need to move into something rather quickly, new construction may not be the best option for you, as building a home can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
–Do you enjoy working on home projects and DIY?
If your answer is no, new construction may be a good fit. With everything brand new, all of your customizations chosen, and a builder warranty, you won’t need to do any fixing up or repairs for the foreseeable future.
–Are you looking for something specific?
If your answer is yes, new construction may be a great option. You would be able to build something that fits your needs and wants. Depending on the builder you choose, the sky’s the limit!
