Out with the old, in with the new?
Our homes and how we use them have dramatically changed and evolved as we embrace multifunctional spaces, working from home, and a sense of retreat. Here are a few home design trends that are predicted to be huge in 2022:
- more vintage than ever.
With shortages and supply chain issues, celebrating one-of-a-kind finds will become increasingly important. Not only is shopping vintage an efficient and sustainable option, but it also adds personality to a space.
- Dark colors and earth tones.
Brown, copper, and other earthy tones are the new neutrals. Earthy textures, raw materials, and greenery are growing quickly in the home design world.
- Bring on the textured fabrics.
Maybe its a reaction to a year and a half spent getting cozy at home, but expect lots of velvets, sherpas, and other textured fabrics. These types of fabrics add a chic and luxurious look to a space. Oh, and fringe is also making a comeback, especially on sofas and ottomans.
- Black accents.
Black accents are back this year (like they ever went away! ) black accents are a great way to add some edge and depth to more minimalist spaces. Black also adds contrast when the main elements such as walls and furniture are neutral colors.
- Natural materials.
Environmental awareness has been on the rise in every single aspect of our lives, and interior design is no exception. Natural materials are great neutrals and give an instant feeling of luxury and style to any space. Whether it be wood, marble, clay, terracotta, or even concrete all come in colors and styles that will fit into virtually any decor style.
