3 THINGS TO DO NOW IF YOU WANT TO BUY A HOME IN 2024

When it comes to buying a house in our current market, the earlier you can get started, and the more prepared you are, the better.

Here are a few action items to get you started on your path to homeownership this year:

REVIEW BUDGET & GET PRE-APPROVED.

Step one is always to speak with a lender and get pre-approved! There’s nothing worse than looking at homes and then realizing they’re out of your budget.

PRO TIP: when putting together a budget, remember to take into account new expenses such as utilities (remember water & sewer), annual maintenance/upkeep costs, and any HOA or Condo fees.

FIND AN AGENT YOU TRUST.

Don’t agent hop! Interview agents to find one who understands the ever-changing market, is available to work with your schedule, is responsive and communicative, and is someone you feel can guide you through the most significant investment you’ll ever make!

It’s never too early to connect with an agent. You never know when the perfect home might pop up!

CREATE A WISH LIST.

Come up with a non-negotiables list as well as a wants list (aka “wish list”). This way, when it’s time to start house hunting, you can focus on what’s important and avoid getting sidetracked by homes that aren’t the best fit.

Also, let go of the idea that the perfect home exists. Instead, focus on finding a home that checks most of your boxes and has the potential to grow with you.
